What We Believe

Welcome to Faith United Church of Christ. We are a faith community whose members come from many backgrounds and experiences. Together, we live and grow as a church that is rooted in spiritual enrichment, community engagement, fellowship, and care for all people. We have open hearts, minds, and spirits, and we value all the many ways that God’s grace enlivens us in sometimes new and inspiring ways.

We believe that following in the ways of Jesus can lead to wholeness for both individuals and communities.

We believe in a still-speaking God; we take the Bible seriously, not literally, and we recognize that there are diverse sources of wisdom and revelation, including in the wonders of creation.

We believe we are called to welcome all people and to affirm the inherent worth and dignity of all people as children of a God.

We believe God is love, and we are called by Jesus to love one another in real and concrete ways.

We believe that we are called to maintain open hearts, minds, and spirits as we grow in faith and awareness.

We believe that we are called to see that we are all in this journey of life together, and that we are called by our faith to see God's loving image and the face of Christ in others.

Our denomination, the United Church of Christ, is itself a diverse collection of churches in which all people are free to explore and practice their faith in ways that are daringly new and rooted in in our best traditions. As we like to say, “No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.” In other words, in the spirit of Jesus’ hospitality and love for all people, we strive to make Faith United Church of Christ a place where, in the words of the prophet Micah, all people might find ways to “do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”
